  3. …to a beautiful beloved brother TotemTA’61…tribute…

    a new beginning

    behold!
    since the dawn of light
as sure as the sun sets
    a new beginning rises
a new pathway to a patterned
    dust to dust memento mori

a ji uy the blossoming of dawn

    we cry we accept
    we pray such is life
    we smile
    we have faith
    we believe
    we repeat…
    we celebrate
    the flowering
    of a new life…
    a new beginning

from a glorious Tau Alpha lore
    we remember you Brod Totem

    fifty argonauts
    on the ship Argo
    with you Brod Totem
    Jason at the helm
    to the Elysian Fields
    Brods waiting smiling…
    words unspoken
at hand…ten cases of beer await

    lo! joy and laughters…
    embraces of love
    in the moment occurs…
    welcome-you arrive!

    just like in the Diliman
    Tambayan when Brod Totem
shows up with his stoic persona
    in the days gone by
bakya we called him he smiled

    unscripted Brod Totem smiled
    his eyes blinked toasting tagay
to all Brods at the camaraderie table wherever Brods gathered

    tales of conquests gushed out
    repeated hours on end
    from the Melchor Hall cafeteria
    to the sunsets to sunrises
    soirée in Dewey Boulevard
more cases of beer at hand

such was Brod Totem’s love for Tau Alpha
unspoken yet deep seated in his heart sitting where he was eyes penetrating

may you be smiling ever more
with peace where ever you will be
up in the firmament in the Elysian Fields stoically with Brods there before you

from your batchmates 1961 Tau Alpha
    We love you Brod Totem-tagay!

    “bakya”

the “bakya” moniker was a love endearment from Brod Ericus to Brod Totem - had to do with the way Brod Totem shows up…his “dating” so to speak …an embodiment of a “probinsyano”, vernacular country boy is what it was…
